It?s official: spammers, the scourge of online living, are beginning to make the inevitable move to SMS and other text-messaging services.
Reports are emerging of the spamsters trying consecutive numbers until they find valid ones and then sending out unsolicited messages. An executive of a company called Plugout.com, which sends unsolicited text messages about its phone accessory products, says: ?What better way to reach your target market? We look at it as if we’re doing these people a favor if they’re looking for these kinds of products.? One irate AT&T Wireless customer replied: ?Clearly the sender knows it’s going to interrupt somebody’s day… They’re not doing me any favours by soliciting me over my cell phone.?
