Sega has seemed to have woken-up from its nightmare new platform, Dreamcast. They have finally announced dates the release date for the 128-bit system in the U.S. and Europe, which is on September 9th at a suggested price of $199/£140. There will be an initial 10-12 Sega
titles available with the system’s launch, including Sonic Adventure, Virtua Fighter 3tb, Superspeed Racing, Geist Force, House of the Dead 2, Seage Rally 2 and both NBA and NFL games. Sega has over 20 games in the works for 2000, and nearly 30 third-party games are expected out before this Christmas.
On paper, the system is 15x more powerful than the ever-more persistant, Sony Playstation, 10x more powerful than a Nintendo 64, has four times the graphic processing power of a PII processor and is the first system to offer full Internet functions, via a 56K modem.
But that’s not all, Iomega have just announced that they will piggyback on the Dreamcast game console using a 100-MB Zip drive that attaches to the system. The attachment will allow game updates via the web will “make Dreamcast the first gaming system versatile enough
to bring world-class game playing, Web browsing, and e-mail together in an integrated system,” the companies said. Sweat dreams game fans.
