You’ve played Mario Brothers, you’ve seen a Nintendo, but have you shot you’re movie on one? ‘Silence’ is the first short to ever be shot on the new Nintendo Gameboy Camera made for the handheld entertainment systems.
Cactus Pudding Productions the creators behind last year’s festival hit, Gutter Punks, Brent Sims & John A. Taylor are back again with this lyrically short about a young man who is coming to terms with the lost of his love with the help of his music. Made for under $100 the cost of one hour on an edit and the cost of the camera. The camera only captures stills, but Sims and Taylor created a way to capture full streamline images into a beta VCR and then later scanned to 16mm film.
Sims & Taylor world premiered the short at EIKK in Karlsrhue Germany (special digital festival for Europe) along with other filmmakers like PIXAR and D.FILM. Sims & Taylor’s company Cactus Pudding Productions had its first sell in Gutter Punks which sold to an international distributor at IFFM20. Now with Silence they once again prove that anyone with a little drive and very little cash can make films. Cactus Pudding Productions is currently working on a local feature film and they are currently shopping around two scripts.
