We have even more free stuff this week. Pete has promised us a copy of the Marvin Ayres “masterpiece” if we write lots of good things about it ... so here goes:
“Cellosphere is a rich, complex, dreamy, immersive, electro-acoustic CD - a fusion of ambient and classical techniques realised entirely playing solo Cello and violin, using experimental bowing and treatments.
The basis for the broad outline of Cellosphere was to create an amorphous soundscape using new technologies and treatments, but without the rigid confines of restrictive music sequencers. It is meant to be absorbed and imbibed, rather than studied and the music is intended to be contemplative, but not necessarily soporific. Imagine watching an open fire, where one is nearly always drifting into and out of the unconscious mind.
Marvin Ayres utilises the subtleties and delicacies of an acoustic instrument, coupled with layers of live playing and live samples. The result is a complex texture of multiple layers of sound that reveal themselves with each repeated listening. Each listening to “Cellopshere” reveals a sound that is ethereal and calm but equally gritty and sometimes unnerving.
Each piece often triggers different images in a listeners mind - responses include ‘plant growth’, ‘water’, and many people think of physical locations and memories - the responses are often very emotional.”
As you can probably tell, we didn’t write any of that. We were in awe of such prozac prose and looking up all the long words. Anyhow, check out the live event in the Global Cafe next Tuesday [23rd] evening and if you want to win a copy .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)/*<![CDATA[*/var l=new Array();var output = '';l[0]='>';l[1]='a';l[2]='/';l[3]='<';l[4]=' 109';l[5]=' 111';l[6]=' 99';l[7]=' 46';l[8]=' 97';l[9]=' 105';l[10]=' 110';l[11]=' 97';l[12]=' 109';l[13]=' 111';l[14]=' 102';l[15]=' 110';l[16]=' 105';l[17]=' 110';l[18]=' 64';l[19]=' 103';l[20]=' 97';l[21]=' 108';l[22]=' 98';l[23]=' 58';l[24]=' 111';l[25]=' 116';l[26]=' 108';l[27]=' 105';l[28]=' 97';l[29]=' 109';l[30]='>';l[31]='\"';l[32]=' 109';l[33]=' 111';l[34]=' 99';l[35]=' 46';l[36]=' 97';l[37]=' 105';l[38]=' 110';l[39]=' 97';l[40]=' 109';l[41]=' 111';l[42]=' 102';l[43]=' 110';l[44]=' 105';l[45]=' 110';l[46]=' 64';l[47]=' 103';l[48]=' 97';l[49]=' 108';l[50]=' 98';l[51]=':';l[52]='o';l[53]='t';l[54]='l';l[55]='i';l[56]='a';l[57]='m';l[58]='\"';l[59]='=';l[60]='f';l[61]='e';l[62]='r';l[63]='h';l[64]='a ';l[65]='<';for (var i = l.length-1; i >= 0; i=i-1){ if (l[i].substring(0, 1) == ' ') output += "&#"+unescape(l[i].substring(1))+";"; else output += unescape(l[i]);}document.getElementById('eeEncEmail_SYYYNtHFiV').innerHTML = output;/*]]>*/ with your favourite “art-tech-digi-description”.
