A Million Times
An intricate wall sized digital clock made from nearly 300 classic clockwork faces.
Stockholm-based creative duo Humans Since 1982 have designed an installation celebrating the beauty of an analogue clock. Unveiled next month at Design Days Dubai, 3.5 meter long installation piece incorporates 288 interconnected clocks. Each clock is synchronised in such way that its minute and hour hands rotate to create graphically strong choreographed patterns in black and white.
The rotations of the clocks are controlled on customised software via an iPad. Each clock contains its own motor for minute and hour hands. They rotate separately every 60 seconds, before settling down to display an updated time of the overall piece.
‘A Million Times’ culminates from a series of time-related projects completed by the studio. It emphasises a hidden beauty of a clock, without denying it its primary function.
