For the first time in the competition's history, a Canadian student received the top prize when the winners were announced Thursday. Christophe Charbault, from l'École de design at l'Université de Montréal, was presented with a cheque for $10,000 (U.S.) by competition judge Robert Cumberford, for his design Virtuoo.
