Lcd Soundsystem, Le Tigre, Soulwax, Hood, Radian, Hurtmold + Rob Mazurek, Mouse On Mars and To Rococo Rot, as well as the legendary The Durutti Column and newcomers Efterklang, The Beautiful People and The Battles, are indicative of this unorthodox trend increasingly common among live acts with electronic music at the forefront. Voice gains presence in Sónar 2005, with performances by Roisin Murphy, vocalist of Moloko, M.I.A., the new sensation in London’s underground, or Jamie Lidell. As well as De La Soul, Afra, Noah 23, Edan & Insight and the hyperactive Doseone fronting the avant-rap sextet Subtle, important proposals which represent hip-hop in its different aspects. The Chemical Brothers will present one of the most awaited concerts of Sónar by Night with “Push The Button”, their sixth Lp. They function at full capacity. Other important acts in Sónar by Night will be Ada, James Murphy, Mu, Jeff Mills, Cut Chemist, The Soft Pink Truth, Mark One + Virus Syndicate, Joris Voorn, Miss Kittin, Laurent Garnier, Mathew Johnson, DJ Yoda, Ellen Allien and Richie Hawtin, among others. In SonarLab, Sónar 2005 will pay special tribute to the world’s most influential radio dj and staunchest advocate of the festival: John Peel. For the third year in a row, L’Auditori de Barcelona will present a musical proposal of exceptional character: the Orquestra Simfònicade Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (OBC) will interact with Richie Hawtin , dj/rupture and Doseone . Afterwards it will perform a repertoire focusing on the concept of landscape representation, with appropriate visual support. SonarMática , the multimedia area of the festival, returns to its origins on CCCB’s first floor to present RANDONÉE , a walk through 21st century landscaping, with a programme that will analyse the margins of actual possibility of landscape through new media. Sónar by Day will include its regular five scenes: SonarVillage, SonarLab, SonarComplex, Sonarama and the Hall stage, as well as its legendary exhibition and cultural areas: SonarCinema , Conferences and Panels , and SonarMática , which this year returns to its origins on CCCB’s first floor. Like every year, Sónar by Day will review the latest acts in the electronic, electro, hip-hop, electronic pop, post- rock, digital concretism, electronic folk and experimental jazz areas with names that include Khonnor, Midaircondo, FS Blumm, Vert, Tape, Goodiepal, Munk, Artificial, Noze, Booka Shade, Hot Chip, General Electrics, World’s End Girlfriend, Tatsuki or Mocky .
