The Jamie Lidell touring show goes from strength to strength, with another blinding performance at the Metro Club last night (Tuesday 19th April). So there was another Jamie Lidell gig last night, this time at the Metro Club on Oxford Street (forgot to tell anyone here I know). This gig was even better than the Barfly one, which I understand was a bit crap because Jamie didn't get to soundcheck and he wasn't too happy with it. But onto last night, it was a top, top musical show, this man just keeps getting better and better, what he does on stage as a show is jaw dropping and really has to be seen to be believed. Even if you are familar with his previous productions you should check him out because in my opinion he's really going places with his music that just totally blows my mind. It's a real show too, not the usual geeky dude sat behind some laptop (well he has a stage full of equipment with him) and video, moving image, art dude, Pablo Fiasco has been providing live visuals and entertainment too. His new album is coming in June on Warp, have to say I can't wait to here it. I gather it's already out there in soulseek land because people were singing along to the new tunes last night. This guy in Belgium put together this cool video and interview with Jamie when he played a festival there recently. He has a heavy schedule of dates across Europe all through April, May & June. Check the Warp website for more details, under artist info. Finally here's my little effort, the photos I took from yesterdays gig. Still wrangling with the camera, but got some good shots that I like, was trying to capture some of the sheer energy of the show. Oh yeah the first few are the support band Eskimo Disco - was a sort retroclash, synth pop thing - some may recognise them from a brief appearance on BBC TV's coverage of last year's glastonbury.
