It has known it's most productive and creative period between 1978 and 1983 when it even didn't had the label 'italo disco'. The term 'Italo Disco' was first introduced in 1984 by Bernhard Mikulski - the founder of ZYX Records - when 'The Best Of Italo Disco" series was released. By then, it was already too late , commercial purposes had killed the unique sound of this music . The classic Italo sound... is produced by keyboards only, the rhythm section being totally electronic. The voice and vocoder are mainly used as an instrument to complete the melody. This robot-like disco sounds were really innovative in it's time. Italo is all about over-arrangements, accents, the melancholic style of the ROLAND JX-8 synths, and the sounds of the Minimoog, Oberheim, Emulator II. They all created something very unique and special in disco music history...
