To celebrate the DVD launch of "High Tech Soul", a new feature documentary about the creation of techno, Plexi and our good friends at RES are doing a free screening, Q&A and party this Sunday 16th at Cargo. Don't worry, you will all have had a large dose of the sun by then and so won't feel bad about getting medievil to some primal beats from Detroit's finest sonic scientists. This film digs deep into the roots of Techno as well as the culture of a city, answering questions of how and why this music came from Detroit. Featuring Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Eddie Fowlkes, Richie Hawtin, and many of the other innovators that continue to take the music to new levels today. High Tech Soul also explores the relationships and personal struggles of the individuals who created this global phenomenon. First-time director Gary Bredow will be in attendance and Detroit techno DJ Blake Baxter joins him on stage for a Q&A session after before taking control of the decks himself with fellow DJ Steve Bicknell (Lost).
