Ferran Adrià, owner of 3-star Michelin (and consistently voted world's greatest) restaurant El Bulli is starting up a culinary social networking site. The master of food wizardry will be using the kitchen of El Bulli, which is set to close next year, as the base for his new research laboratory in which he'll be posting recipes and experimentations daily.
As you know, we're launching our Protein Food Network soon and are particularly psyched on Adrià's interest in turning cuisine into a subject of academic research. The Harvard science faculty feels the same way, they're in partnership with Adrià for his new research lab and have even invited him to speak at their new undergraduate course, Science and Cooking: From Haute Cuisine to the Science of Soft Matter.
Hopefully his daily posts will include some of his culinary secrets, he recently gave away his technique to what he calls 'spherification' in which liquid flavours are encapsulated in gelatine balls. Pretty good stuff. Bad thing isyou'll have to wait awhile before getting to try his new creations...Adrià says his new research foundation won't be open until 2012.
