One for all the Protein° NYC design headz. Some of New York's hottest graphic artists and designers will converge on the M1-5 bar at 52 Walker St. in Greenwich Village the evening of November 19th to participate in the first ever live graphic design battle, the Cut and Paste Design Competition.\n\n Some of those designers will be judging, and others will be putting their reputations on the line. The winner will become the first battle-tested guru of live design and will go home with a substantial prize package that will include a new Apple iBook.\r\n\r\n\"The contest is an homage to DJ battles, dance-offs and graffiti artists,\" says Justin Kim, one of the contest's founders. \"We want the artists involved to flex a different creative muscle than they are used to.\"\r\n\r\nOrdinarily, graphic artists are given days, weeks, or even months to complete just one project. For Cut and Paste, the contestants are going to be asked to produce a freelance design with minimal preparation in only fifteen minutes in front of a live audience. \r\n\r\nThe contest is being presented by Audio Visual Disorder (AVD) and is being sponsored by Psyop, Tekserve, Karmaloop, and Wacom; Red Stripe will be providing free beer. Prize sponsors include: KidRobot, myPlasticHeart, Mimoco, Crumpler, Sophomore, and illightenment. Media sponsors include: LVHRD, Flavorpill, Cool Hunting, Hired Guns, Super7, NYTokyo and of course Protein° OS. VIP passes, drink passes, and gift bags will be available to the media.
