Portland based TK Type has developed Chartwell Type, a downloadable font that lets people create their own infographics with well designed pie charts, bar graphs and spark lines. Headed up by Travis Kochel, TK Type is an extension of his design practice Scribble Tone, and acts as an outlet for his passion for the typeface. As well as a normal alphabet, Chartwell Type uses OpenType ligatures to interpret data and allows web or print-based data visualizations to be produced at will. The graphs not only look great, they are easy to play around with, alter and edit. The type uses javascript to transform numbers and values from simple HTML code into an infographic. We love simple and clean design, and Chartwell Type offers a effortless way of presenting data in an intuitive way. Finally, Adobe Illustrator novices no longer need to fiddle around with circles and lines.
