Our friends at The Pigeon Consortium, in collaboration with Allsopp Contemporary are pleased to announce their the forthcoming show, Natural Selection: British Graffiti in 2005. The stellar cast is Sickboy, Xenz, Astek, Wish-One, Snug, INSA, Styles and Mr Who -- all producing new work and collaborating on a big piece in the outside of the building. Ch-ch-ch-eck it out ... Housed within AC’s newly opened contemporary art space this landmark exhibition – will see the cream of the art establishment entertain the cream of the anti-establishment. Natural Selection will see a reunion of Snug, Wish-One, Astek and INSA; four former members of the all-star “They Made Me Do It” collective. Alongside them will be Mr Who, Sickboy, Xenz and model maker Styles – all chosen for their unique mix of technical ability, innovative work style and graff pedigree. The interior of the space will combine installation, canvases, sculpture and wall pieces by the artists. By contrast the outside wall of the gallery will provide the canvas for an unprecedented, large-scale production. For many Natural Selection is a collaboration long overdue and a chance to see some of the scene’s originators in the face of a proliferation of generically “urban” art in the UK. For others it will be the first chance to appreciate the depth in talent this country has to offer. Natural Selection will take place at Allsopp Contemporary’s gallery, Trelick-Eight, Conlan Street and runs from the 26th August to 9th September and is open all through Carnival.
