YouTube VHS
To celebrate the 57th anniversary of the world's first video player, YouTube have introduced a VHS button that allows viewers to watch online clips as if they were video cassettes.

In celebration of the 57th birthday of the Ampex VRX-1000, the first commercial video cassette recorder, YouTube launched a VHS mode that appears on certain videos. Allowing viewers to relive the grainy, low quality days of their VHS youth, the button has a certain sentimentality for those who grew up in the early days of home video. The feature can be activated by selecting the VHS button on the bottom-right of a video.
Complete with grainy artifacts over videos and fuzzy, distorted screens when the video is paused, the feature captures the essence of watching a VHS. Gone but not forgotten, VHS mode is a pleasant trip down memory lane and is both indication of how far technology has come within the last few decades, but also the nostalgia many people feel for the past. The button doesn't appear on embedded videos so have a go here.
