In a survey of women’s’ attitude to the Internet, Women.com, a US based portal, finds that 70 percent of women polled cannot imagine life without the Internet. The average woman who responded to the survey was in her thirties, married and had a higher than average household income. 73 percent of women polled search for products and services on the Internet and more than half believe that “fast and easy solutions” are what will drive ecommerce online.Meanwhile, two recent surveys have found that women will be the biggest online spenders this holiday season. Harris Interactive found that this year six times as many women will buy online as did last year accounting for 42 percent of shoppers. Another study by NDP Research found that in all the major product categories, women intend to buy more than their male counterparts. The shift in buying patterns is a result of the number of women who now feel comfortable with the Internet and are graduating from browsers to shoppers. According to latest US demographic figures from CommerceNet/Nielsen Media Research, there are 92 million adults online in the US and 46 percent are female.www.women.com
