Virgin Entertainment Group announced Thursday that it will begin offering consumers a new service that allows them to download their favourite music and games while putting an end to waiting for downloading to finish.  The service, dubbed “Virgin JamCast,” uses background Internet downloading to bring pre-selected digital entertainment content to consumers’ PCs or set-top boxes, eliminating the wait.Virgin JamCast is a product collaboration between Virgin Entertainment  Group, which owns and operates the chain of Virgin Megastores, VirginMegastore Online, and related assets, and Wavo Corp., a digital media services provider.  As part of the agreement, both parties have formed, and are significant equity owners of, JamCast.com Inc.; in addition, Virgin Entertainment Group has received warrants to purchase equity in Wavo Corp. Virgin JamCast’s Internet broadcasts utilise Wavo’s Asynchronous Reliable Multicast proprietary technology and its existing nationwide network for broadcasting data to TV tuner cards.
