Facebook engineers have revealed their 11 secret herbs and spices to how our home-page friend-feed is generated. Obviously if we saw be all the activity from all our friends we would be inundated, drowned with comments, likes and links so they developed a formula to process it all and show us more of what we want to see.

Naturally your closer ‘friends’, the ones you interact with more, will appear more frequently in your feed. Next, there is a weight of importance given to each type of activity, so a ‘comment’ has more weight to it than a ‘like’, and then the most recent once these have been calculated appear first.
