Tired of forgetting your girlfriend’s phone numbers, Mum’s birthday, the weekly shopping list or your cracked serial codes? Well you need a new and improved, Sony Memory Stick for all those annoying bits of bytes.OK, so we lied about the phone number bit, but Sony are on the case to find a removable digital download device that can be used for their new range of audio players. The project, which is being developed internally as the “Memory Stick Walkman” aims to be a digital successor to the company’s best-seller. Although no consumer name has been announced for the product, Sony has recently registered a trademark for NetMan ...Sony’s Memory Stick technology has already been integrated into several hardware devices in Japan, including portable computers and digital cameras. Predictions for the pricing on the Sticks are $65 [√Ǭ£45] for 8 Mb and $32 [√Ǭ£20] for 4 Mb. The Memory Stick has the potential to support any digital-download format, including MP3, but that would need additional software according to a source.A Sony spokeswoman declined to comment on pricing or availability for the device. However, a source says the product will be available soon after the expected portable device standard is set by the music industry’s Secure Digital Music Initiative on June 30. Until then, you’ll have to put up with scribbling on the back of your hand.
