Back in the middle of September Taipei took a pounding from a more than usual amount of underground resistance in the form of an earthquake that measured 7.6 on the Richter scale and of course, those newly re-christened, onedothero boys.
As they say in their own words, “Digital moving image and hybrid digital visuals took a distant second in the concerns of onedotzero project co-director’s Matt Hanson and Shane Walter while in the capital, Taipei, as they dashed to safety from the very top floor of a city centre hotel when the earthquake hit at 1.47am local time.”
But you’ll be glad to hear they made it through this “traumatic night with only mild-anxiety” and are not back to pull off the “first digital film sidebar in Asia” at the Taipei Film Festival, New East Village, Taiwan between November 19-27 with the usual style and composure of any urban digital warrior.
In their armoury bag of blast-proof binary delights will be: meeting people is easy: radiohead documentary, sneakers: size isn’t everything, goldie: when saturn returnz, julian hanshaw: church of high weirdness + nought, richard kenworthy: doug gives a talk on electronics + the littlest robo, sabiston + pallotta: roadhead, eric henry: wood technology.
So, for all the Asian massive on the list, if you want to see “the future of digital filmmaking” go check this out and if you try to blag your way in, mentioning Ninfomania won’t help much.
