MTV Nordic's This Is Our Music traveled around the Amsterdam area (The Hague, Rotterdam and Delft) and found that the area carries top DJs, clubs, labels and some of the finest artists in the world today. Marcus Torncrantz states that "there is an antipode to all the romanticism and all the hippie crap and I - here and now - tag it as Dutch Disco". The Dutch make their disco spanking with electronics. They blend a mixture of good old Detroit techno, Italo, electro, funk, rap and - yes - disco. Generally speaking they don't care whether you like their music or not - which is always the best way to attend things. The charming duo behind two 12" EPs - the "evil corporation" Comtron - play "C64 electro funk with a dark twist". Tonic Serge from Clone Records / Clone Distribution / Clone Shop and Dub Recordings tells us some secrets about their fabulous Glass Domain release. Danny Wolfers has teddy bears in his studio. He doesn't really know why. He releases his music as Legowelt, Squadra Blanco, Macho Cat Garage… He dreads to think of himself as a pop star. Hairy Alden Tyrell is another Dutch eccentric. Sadly he hasn't been as productive as his crowd demands. He is too much self-critical... Next and last in line is Ferenc E. van der Sluijs. A man to either love or loathe. Initially he didn't want to talk with us. Then he agreed to do 10 minutes, then he spoke constantly for a good three hours and later took us to his home (a mere radio station). And then to the train station (still talking whilst waving us of): "No I have never involved politics in my music. I think the government here see me as a very dangerous person. After all I am some kind of an anarchist. But then they should wait till I involve politics in my work." Ference is a workaholic. He does 24-hour radio (Cybernetic Broadcasting System) on his own, releases music under the names I-f and the Conservatives and he runs two of the coolest labels ever, Viewlexx and Panama Records.
