The millennium has been packaged and sold to us for months now.

Yet what does it mean to people in many parts of the world? A large percentage of the earth’s population will celebrate the movement of the clocks past midnight on December 31st 1999 as a very special occasion.

The millennium project is designed to give a snapshot of many of these parts of the globe as we move from the 20th century to the 21st century. It will enable us to see how others view this time and will act as a document of the event for future generations. Using the Internet we will ask people to send in a photograph, a piece of art or writing to express their feelings about the millennium. These submissions should be produced around the turn of the millennium.

All the submissions will be available for viewing from a  website, whilst a selection of works will be placed on exhibition and published in a book. All of the data will be stored in a secure format, in a secure place and designated as a record of the millennium for future generations.
