Icon CMT Corp. said it will cease publication of its influential cultural Web site Word, and extreme sports site Charged. The announcement is the latest development in Icon's difficult realization that publishing the graphically adventurous webzines doesn't fit in with the rest of the company's evolving business as a provider of Internet and intranet solutions.

Last May, the company said it was looking for a large media company to develop and manage the sites.
