The “recognized leader in streaming media” commonly known as RealNetworks have finally got their G2 goodie bag together in time for Christmas. The full version of the much hyped G2 codec is ready for download, promising that it will behave itself without all those annoying beta bugs of old.

The G2 RealProducer [what happened to RealPublisher? Someone else already had it registered?] RealProducer Plus offer a great deal of new features, most notably the Intel sponsored SureStream [what happened to SmartStream? Someone else already had it registered?] which is a great improvement in principle. But, I have to say, on our preliminary tests last week, we were far from impressed with the results when compared to what the old version could do. Maybe we need some more time to hack it out, or because we have it installed on a Vectra.

So, if you are into streaming stuff then I’m sure you know all about this already, but for those who don’t, check it out, dig out some old family videos and fill up some bandwidth with extreme close-ups of Auntie Mavis.
