The Academy of Interactive Arts Sciences (AIAS) will present its first Hall of Fame award to Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Donkey Kong and Mario. Miyamoto, who was hired as a staff artist by Nintendo in 1977, created the Donkey Kong coin-op and the first Super Mario game in 1985. AIAS will honor those that have pioneered a new genre, influenced other designers and been exceptionally innovative and creative.
