Hot on the heals of BT's Click free Internet service, comes Dixons launch of Freeserve that is expected to "revolutionise the use of the Web in the UK." Now if they gave everyone a PC with their Internet access THAT would "revolutionise the use of the Web in the UK."

Dixons is giving you Freeserve with free unlimited internet access, free registration and subscription, free UK content including the latest news, sport, weather reports and other information supplied by the Press Association, full POP3 mailbox and unlimited free email addresses and 5 MB of Web space. What's the catch I hear you ask? £1 a minute tech support "hot" line. Compare that to BT's extra 1p on your phone bill and you have an interesting trade-off.

All in all it is good news for joe public and I'm sure we won't be slating so much when we forget to pay our own ISP bill.
