Digital Underground intersects contemporary art and new digital technology. This large scale exhibition comprises the work of twenty artists on the seminal MA Digital Arts course at Middlesex University, whose growing international reputation generates much interest in the worlds of contemporary digital art and related industries for this annual event.
The exhibiting artists have a mutual correlation of ideas whose meeting point is at the forefront of digital technology. Their work is conceived at the cutting edge of new information technologies. Most recently, work was shown in the Lovebytes international Digital Arts festival, Sheffield, April 1998. The work for Digital Underground includes forms of Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Life, Computer Animation, Immersive Environments, Interactive and Alternative User Interfaces, the Internet, innovative use of Java, Robotics, 4-D Sculpture and Sound; ranging from large scale audio and visual installations to flat screen monitor pieces.
Digital Underground is at Aldwych tube Station, The Strand, London WC2, from 12-6pm, 18-22 September 1998. Entry is free.
