Dotmusic reports that UK pranksters Coldcut in conjunction with Sinead O’connor and Thomas Dolby worked together in real time from separate locations to record a remake of Bob Marley’s “Them Belly Full.”
The three artists used a technology called Virtual Studio to come up with the first track ever recorded live on the Internet. To meet the one hour target, Dolby had to return his part to Coldcut in 17 minutes, leaving Sinead 3 minutes to lay down her vocals. She pulled it off, and the goal was met.
Music fans of the world can celebrate this new technology, and hope it encourages more collaborations between artist that would otherwise not be able to work together
