Yup, not content with breaking the MP3 player story a couple of weeks back, we have another exclusive for all you DJ headz out there - or maybe we should say, wannabe DJ’s.

Pioneer’s new CMX 5000 which is due for launch before Christmas is a twin deck CD mixer that looks for all intents and purposes like a supped-up Denon set-up.

But, this little beauty has a magic mix feature that automatically beat synchs the two playing tracks [don’t ask how] and then offers you four different fade types - scratch [hard and fast], T [slower], House [long and smooth] and FX [for delay, “whiteout” and bass/treble fade]. But that is not all - there is also a time delay control to allow those long lingering mixes to stay locked in till the break of dawn.

No plans have been laid to pricing and product name, but either way it is going to be interesting to see how this master mixer with go down with the DJ community. I don’t think Pioneer are positioning it to “replace” the DJ as we know it, it is aimed at “music bars” that can’t afford the “big names” to drop their “platters that matter” or need some low maintenance warm-up music before the real don of the decks arrives.

We’ll keep you posted on its progress, so stay tuned and remember where you read it first.
