RealNetworks has concluded a series of deals with news and entertainment producers that company executives describe as a sign of momentum for more audio and video on the Internet.

Among the deals announced at an industry trade show in Las Vegas was an exclusive arrangement under which all 27 radio stations owned and operated by the ABC network will begin transmitting live on the Internet this month. RealNetworks

officials said the service also would be offered to the nearly 3,000 radio stations affiliated with ABC Radio, the nation's largest radio network and a unit of Walt Disney.

RealNetworks also said it was working with a division of TCI Music to develop and market new music audio and video services. This comes on the back of a major deal with CNN and Sun Microsystems last week to "deliver real-time audio and video programming for CNN.com."

It's going to be an interesting year for streaming. There's that word again.
