No sniggering at the back. This Thursday, the ICA is hosting a very serious discussion about masturbation. Grayson Perry (it had to be a Turner Prize nominee, didn't it?) is one of three panellists discussing The Most Singular Pleasure. Joining him are Thomas Laqueur, Professor of history at Berkeley and author of Solitary Sex: A Cultural History of Masturbation and Jonathan Dollimore, Professor of English at York, whose books include Sex, Literature and Censorship. Does masturbation still create a sense of social inease? Does it promote world peace? Can it cure cancer? Does it, in fact, honour God? Shuffle down to the ICA on 17th July to find out.
