The only place you're likely to see a sign-language version of the Sex Pistols' 'God Save the Queen' this year is 'Lifting the Lid', a Disability Film Festival opening tomorrow at the National Film Theatre. Bringing new meaning to the phrase 'challenging filmmaking', the fifth annual festival consists entirely of work made by disabled people. Among the 61 films on show are Evanesce, which portrays the fading images that accompany the loss of sight, and black comedy The Electricians, investigating the 18th Century scientific belief that electricity could 'repair' the impaired body. More confrontational sessions include The Great Illusion, which contemplates life and reincarnation as seen by members of the Hare Krishna movement, and live debates about inclusion and abortion. Lifting the Lid runs from 5-8 June. Full listings are available from the NFT's website.
