Protein loves a map. So we were delighted to discover that [Cogapp](http://www.cogapp.com/?ref=protein.xyz) have produced an app of artist [Stephen Walter’s](http://www.stephenwalter.co.uk/?ref=protein.xyz)hand-drawn maps of London.

Much of the maps’ beauty comes from their intricacy, so having them in digital format enables the user to get up-close and relish each and every detail of the idiosyncratic illustrations and oddball annotations based on historical facts.

Seeing the skill of illustration and cartography celebrated and represented in digital format is a great thing. And much like [Cogapp’s Unilver Series App](http://prote.in/feed/2012/07/turbine-hall-retrospective-app/?ref=protein.xyz), it shows that a positive symbiosis can exist between two very different artistic mediums.
