Sometimes it’s the simplest ideas that are the best. Innovation doesn’t have to involve touch screens or fancy new gadgets, but can just be an update of a traditional idea. The Albatros by [Oscar Lhermitte](http://www.oscarlhermitte.com/?ref=protein.xyz) is exactly that: a modern take on the traditional bookmark.

Compromising of a strip of polyester that's stuck inside the front and back covers of a book, the unique structure of the Albatros ensures that the bookmark follows the page you are reading without you needing to lift a finger. The benefits of having a bookmark that follows you are obvious: you can just drop the book without a moment’s worry, safe in the knowledge that you can carry on from where you left off.

Overall, the object is a great example of a design solution that just helps our lives run a little smoother.
