Writer, artist and games designer [David Calvo](http://www.morethancoral.org/?ref=protein.xyz) has worked with [les éditions volumiques](http://volumique.com/v2/en/?ref=protein.xyz) to create an interactive comic for the iPad. [ Starlay ](http://volumique.com/starlay/index%5Feng.html?ref=protein.xyz) tells the story of a seahorse’s search to find his lost girlfriend, Starlayte, so he can have her seahorse babies and every couple of days, the [ app ](https://itunes.apple.com/app/starlay/id592409402?ref=protein.xyz) unlocks more content revealing Starlay’s quest for true love. Once the comic is complete, a new cycle will be announced. Much like [A Clockwork Orange](http://prote.in/feed/2012/10/a-clockwork-orange?ref=protein.xyz) and [The Silent History](http://prote.in/feed/2012/10/the-silent-history?ref=protein.xyz), Starlay is another solid example of the ways in which books, comics and mags are expressing themselves in more innovative and digitally-minded ways, and pushing the boundaries of the reading experience. Calvo’s intrinsic interest in themes of love, frailty, wonder and discovery give this seahorse saga a deeply human slant, too.
