A number of new print mags have popped up over the past few months - take [Flaneur](https://www.prote.in/en/feed/2013/07/flaneur-magazine--2?ref=protein.xyz) and [Swallow](https://www.prote.in/en/feed/2013/05/swallow-magazine--2?ref=protein.xyz) \- but [Riposte](http://www.ripostemagazine.com/?ref=protein.xyz) is a little different. Set up by Danielle Pender, chief curator at the [KK Gallery](http://www.kkoutlet.com/?ref=protein.xyz), Riposte is aimed at women yet eschews the typical associations made with traditional women's magazines. Intended as a 'positive exploration of the modern woman', each issue will follow the same format: five ideas, four meetings, three features, two essays and one icon. The first issue includes interviews with [Nelly Ben Hayoun](https://www.prote.in/en/profiles/nelly-ben-hayoun?ref=protein.xyz), and Francoise Mouly, art editor of the [New Yorker](http://www.newyorker.com/?ref=protein.xyz), and a 16-page monograph of artist, Linder. Much like [Libertine](http://www.interestedwomen.com/?ref=protein.xyz), Riposte is a timely antidote to the vapidity of fashion and celebrity-centric magazines. It's promising to witness the emergence of a new breed of magazine that champions interesting women, culture and design.
