We’ve seen how experimental media shows (such as [Hyper-Matrix](http://prote.in/fhttp://prote.in/feed/2012/09/%20hyper-matrixeed/2012/09/hyper-matrix?ref=protein.xyz)) can marry art with technology in an analogue medium. And while we are getting used to the idea that drones will soon take the air, a team of performers from Ars Electronica Futurelab ([http://www.aec.at/futurelab/en/](http://www.aec.at/futurelab/en/?ref=protein.xyz)) are determined to prove this event doesn’t necessarily imply a military or space invasion.

In collaboration with [Ascending Technologies GmbH](http://www.asctec.de/?%20locale=en%5FUS&ref=protein.xyz) they have put together a hypnotizing light show. Part of the annual Klangwolke multimedia event, the celestial performance of 49 quadrocopters has dazzled the residents of Linz, Austria.

The autonomous Hummingbird drones were also equipped with LEDs to guarantee an eye-catching nighttime act. This technological drama is only an episode of [eight](http://www.aec.at/klangwolke/files/2012/08/voestalpine-Klangwolke%5FPK%5F27-8-2012%5Fen.pdf?ref=protein.xyz) that aim to tell the story of our networking world. ‘The Cloud in the Web’ - a fitting name for an awe-inspiring production - is the highest number of orchestrated quadrones we’ve spotted so far.
