Parisian guerilla street artist JR is this years [TED conference winner](http://www.ted.com/talks/jr%5Fs%5Fted%5Fprize%5Fwish%5Fuse%5Fart%5Fto%5Fturn%5Fthe%5Fworld%5Finside%5Fout.html?ref=protein.xyz). With his installations focusing mainly in run-down and low-income areas, JR pastes large-scale close-up images of members from that community attempting to put a human face to impoverished areas.

Taking this message he has collaborated with TED on [Inside Out](http://www.insideoutproject.net/site/about?ref=protein.xyz), a global art project aimed at transforming ideas of personal identity into artistic work. Anyone can upload a black and white portrait, then these images are made into posters and sent back to the individual so that others can create their own street art.
