As the adage goes, a stitch in time saves nine; if we can recognise stress in good time, we can do something about it before things get too out of hand.   
  
While mood rings have been claiming to provide an indication of a wearer’s disposition for some time now, their scientific merits have left something to be desired. Finnish design company [Moodmetric](http://www.moodmetric.com/?ref=protein.xyz) have designed a new mood ring that measures 'autonomous neurological activity' on your skin, a factor that can be used to understand emotional reactions, much like a fitness tracker for the emotions.   
  
The accompanying smartphone app gives you instant feedback on your mood and emotional peaks and troughs throughout the day as well as providing several different relaxation and mediation techniques that can help to bring your nervous system back into balance.   
  
At the moment it seems that the aim of a lot of wearable tech is to improve a wearer’s emotional wellbeing. For example, [Neurowear](https://www.prote.in/en/feed/2013/03/mood-controlled-headphones?ref=protein.xyz) have created a set of headphones that detect a wearer’s brainwaves and choose songs to compliment their mood.
