No sniggering at the back. This Thursday, the ICA is hosting a [very serious discussion about masturbation](http://www.ica.org.uk/index.cfm?articleid=12446&ref=protein.xyz). [Grayson Perry](http://www.graysonperry.co.uk/claire%27s%20coming%20out%20dress.jpg?ref=protein.xyz) (it had to be a Turner Prize nominee, didn't it?) is one of three panellists discussing The Most Singular Pleasure. Joining him are Thomas Laqueur, Professor of history at Berkeley and author of [Solitary Sex: A Cultural History of Masturbation](http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1890951323/qid%3D1058286406/202-2769869-4575864?ref=protein.xyz) and Jonathan Dollimore, Professor of English at York, whose books include [Sex, Literature and Censorship](http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0745627641/qid=1058286469/sr=1-1/ref=sr%5F1%5F0%5F1/202-2769869-4575864?ref=protein.xyz). Does masturbation still create a sense of social inease? Does it promote [world peace](http://www.masturbateforpeace.com/?ref=protein.xyz)? Can it [cure cancer](http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3072021.stm?ref=protein.xyz)? Does it, in fact, [honour God](http://youthspecialties.com/articles/topics/sexuality/masturbation.php?ref=protein.xyz)? Shuffle down to the ICA on 17th July to find out.
