For the last fifteen years the small Swiss town of Langenthal has hosted the biannual [Designers' Saturday](http://www.designerssaturday.ch/?pageID=3&lng=en&ref=protein.xyz) event. This year students of design college Écal have taken it upon themselves to present 'The Low-Tech Factory', a light-hearted series of contraptions that aim to slow down the production process and allow viewers to focus on the mechanics involved.

Machines include '[Oncle Sam](http://www.designboom.com/weblog/cat/8/view/24708/ecal-low-tech-factory-oncle-sam-single-kernel-popcorn-machine.html?ref=protein.xyz)', a hand powered machine that cooks popcorn one kernel at a time and 'Rocking-Knit', a rocking chair that knits hats.

It's an interesting exhibition that re-interprets and manipulates the traditional manufacturing processes. Check out the videos below for more information.
