Breathing new life into a pair of abandoned petrol stations in Amsterdam, architect [Sophie Valla's](http://sophievalla.nl/?ref=protein.xyz)[LED Cloud](http://sophievalla.nl/nl/projecten/led-cloud/?ref=protein.xyz) installation sees the roof of the filling stations lined with programmable panels that mimic the sky above or complex colour patterns.   
  
By taking a previously ignored and derelict part of the urban environment and using relatively simple technology to reinvigorate the architecture firm is making a strong case for the appeal that these 'abandoned' parts of our cities still have for many people.
