As we said in the [Play Report](https://www.prote.in/reports?ref=protein.xyz) of our latest [Journal](https://www.prote.in/store?ref=protein.xyz), we're seeing an increasing trend of producers handing over the ablilty to build and modify their products to the consumer. From [build-it-yourself cameras](https://www.prote.in/en/feed/2014/05/otto?ref=protein.xyz) to [customisable furniture](https://www.prote.in/en/feed/2014/04/tog--2?ref=protein.xyz), the customer has never been so empowered.

Romanian design studio, [Dragos Motica](http://www.dragosmotica.ro/?ref=protein.xyz), explore this idea with their latest product, the [/ (Slash) Lamp](http://www.dragosmotica.ro/slash%20lamp.html?ref=protein.xyz). A simple ceiling hanging design, the bulb is encased in a tube of concrete. The lamp can function perfectly fine as it is, however what's interesting is that in the package, along with the lamp, is a rock that the owner is invited to use to smash the concrete surrounding the bulb to create a unique, personalised design.

Exploring ideas of 'building vs destroying', the / Lamp is an interesting idea that raises questions about how we treat and think about our products.
