One of the most striking features at this year’s [London Design Festival](http://www.londondesignfestival.com/?ref=protein.xyz) has been architect [John Pawson](http://www.johnpawson.com/?ref=protein.xyz)’s installation inside St Paul’s cathedral. The striking old landmark has opened its doors to the festival for the first time, as Pawson, working alongside Swarovski, has suspended a huge lens into the building’s rarely seen Geometric Staircase.

The installation, fittingly named Perspectives, involves what is the largest lens possible to manufacture and adorns the space, providing a stunning view as the spherical convex mirror warps 23m of staircase. The perspective has never before been seen by a human eye and promises to display Christopher Wren’s architecture in a truly unique light as it goes into its tercentenary year.

The project is part of the [Swarovski Crystal Palace](http://www.swarovskicrystalpalace.com/?ref=protein.xyz) project, a creative initiative attempting to create innovative ways of changing the dynamic of cut crystals with light. The exhibit runs through until mid January next year.
