One for all those VJ headz out there. Ninja Tune will release VJamm3 in January 2006 and is the second update to the original 1998 version developed by Coldcut and Camart.

The upgrade offers 16 channels of real-time AV mixing, with OpenGL acceleration using the host computer's graphics card to drive real-time 3D effects. Individual clips can be modified using controls over size, shape, soft-edge luma key, opacity, position, direction and scratch. A DJ-style crossfade module with transform buttons has been added. Ninja Tune claims that the application's reponse speed has been greatly improved, as has its stability. Automatic BPM stretching support has been added, as has TV output, a sync mode for matching visual to DJ mixes and installations, and drag-&-drop loading of clips. Also new is support for MPEG files, midi (including control over all parameters), 3D clip mapping, and a Dr Who-style controllable trails effect. The software will be available in a £42 plus VAT standard version and a £255 plus VAT Pro version, which adds support for output in broadcast and HDTV resolutions, and to multiple projectors - plus export of compositions as finished video files for output to DVD, broadcast or streaming. A demo version will be included on Coldcut's forthcoming Sound Mirrors album, which is released on January 30 2006. You can watch a streamed version of creative music promo the first single from the album, Everything Is Under Control, online in Real and Windows Media formats. [Digit]
