We can't resist the power of the printed matter. Today the New York Art Book Fair throws open it's doors at PS1 to what no doubt will be a carnival of hipsters, cutesy intellectuals and dateable nerds. Now in its fifth year, it's said to be hosting over 200 international presses from twenty countries.

A special project by artist Leidy Churchman is set to ambush the museum's lobby with facsimile book paintings on wood, a mighty small precursor to that lies beyond; this years featured country is The Netherlands meaning up to 18 Dutch exhibitors will showcase artists books, monographs, cataglogues and journals; Pecha Kucha will be making a sneak appearance at the two day Contemporary Artists' Books Conference occuring in parallel on site and The Classroom will kick off again with a range of informal conversations. There's a Zine Meet Up for die hards to swap and trade; project rooms that contain a real photocopy station; book signings, DJs, performances - damn did you get all that? Produced by Printed Matter and supported by Opening Ceremony, we can't help but get just a tad excited wondering what smart people in fashion wear when they're reading big words.
