It costs nothing, and you get a free avatar with a chunk of pocket-money when you sign up to buy some virtual gear and locations. Apart some supaclever backend technology, I think the most interesting aspect of IMVU is the huge community powering a myriad of body, clothing, fashion and location options.
Not one for meeting people online [prefer the pub], but my brief IMVU experience involved a “laaady” from Trinidad [at least I think she was a “laaady”] and a rather pleasant “interaction” on beach somewhere in the ether. No, not that sort of “interaction”, it was of a more sanitised kind.
