The documentary ‘Resistencia: Hip-Hop in Colombia’ is being screened at the Ritzy Cinema, in Brixton, followed by a discussion with the film’s producer/ director Tom Feiling.

The film is a thought-provoking exploration of how young Colombians feel about the crisis afflicting their country, and is an introduction into Colombia’s long-running civil war, as seen through the eyes of some of Colombia’s finest rappers, DJs and breakdancers.

It also gives an intimate insight into life in the barrios of a very volatile country, and how traditional Latino music is losing out to rap music. Its style is youthful and entertaining, but also angry. The film has already won a number of awards and gives an amazing look into the country’s state through hip hop.

Tickets for the film and Q&A are √Ǭ£7/ √Ǭ£6 Ritzy members / √Ǭ£3 concessions, and there’ll be a live DJ set from GMBaby in the Ritzy Cafe. Please bring any old records so they can be sent to Colombian DJs featured in Resistencia.
