Can you resist to click? Created by Alex Frank as the final artwork of his diploma in Communication Arts at Essen-Buisberg University (Germany), Don't Click It is an experiment in a new kind of interface interaction that doesn't require clicking. Although the demonstration site mostly uses standard rollovers to activate buttons, Alex has devised three methods of replacing the use of a mouse click depending on the situation; the first uses a basic hover timer to activate, the second requires the user to move the mouse horizontally across the button and the third requires the user to move the mouse in an oval around the button. The site discusses the various merits and pitfalls of these ideas. All clicks made on the site are logged to see if people can give up the urge to click.
