It’s fast. It’s small. It’s cubic. Must be Apple’s new G4 cube then,  which ships with a redesigned oval-shaped mouse to replace the cool-looking but essentially useless round one. The new G4 cube miniaturizes all the features of a mid-range G4 - 450 Megahertz chip, 20 gigabytes of storage, USB ports, modem, DVD drive, ethernet, Airport wireless networking - in an compact 8-by-8-inch machine that lifts out of its case, giving users quick access to all its components. The cube comes with clear tennis-ball sized Harmon Kardon speakers, and will be available in the States from early August, shifting for $1,799. A 500 MHz version with 30 gigabytes of storage will sell for $2,299. Under a banner reading ‘Two brains are better than one’, Apple CEO Steve Jobs also rolled out the company’s two new top-line G4 PowerMacs, which will be shipped with dual-processors as standard but an unchanged price - nice. The company’s long-awaited new OS X, to be released early next year, will take advantage of the two processors, said Jobs. You know you want it:G4 Cube
